Dear Commuters,

   The park and ride lot at the corner of Island Drive and Doolittle Drive
isn't a casual carpool site yet, but it could be. The lot does not appear to
be full. The AC Transit "OX" route provides service to San Francisco. There
are buses at approximately 6:00am, 6:30, 6:41, 6:54, 7:06,7:18, 7:30 and
7:45am. The trip to the San Francsico terminal is about 36 minutes. "OX"
buses leave San Francisco in the evening from 4:14pm to 7:02pm. Bay Bridge
evening casual carpools, which Environmental Defense helped organize, run
every weekday from San Francisco to the East Bay. The program has been
running successfully since October 1997. Between 3:30pm and 7:00pm weekdays,
passengers and drivers can connect at Beale Street between Howard and Folsom
Streets in San Francisco. Please do not stop in bus zones to pick up passengers because it is illegal and the fine is $250!
